Indian captain Rohit Sharma is doing great against England in the third Test match happening right now in Rajkot. In the first day’s game at Niranjan Shah Stadium, he scored 98 runs off 154 balls. He hit 11 fours and two sixes during his time batting.

On Wednesday (February 15), in this third game of the five-game series, Rohit showed he’s in good shape, getting close to making his 11th century in Test cricket for India. By the second break, he had 97 runs from 154 balls.

So far, Rohit hit 11 fours and 2 sixes. By hitting his second six in the game, he passed the previous record held by ex-Indian captain MS Dhoni, who had 78 sixes in Test matches. Now Rohit, playing his 57th Test for India, has 79 sixes, making him the second-highest six-hitter for India in Test cricket, only behind Virender Sehwag in the number of sixes hit for Team India.

Brendon McCullum, who used to lead New Zealand and now coaches England’s Test team, is second with 107 sixes in 101 matches. Adam Gilchrist, a former Australian captain, is third with 100 sixes in 96 games. He was the first player ever to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.

Rohit and Jadeja give new life to India’s game

India’s captain Rohit Sharma chose to bat first in the third Test, but it didn’t work out well at the start. India lost three players quickly, making only 33 runs in 8.5 overs. However, things improved when Rohit teamed up with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 68 runs. Together, they scored 152 runs for the fourth wicket from 260 balls. By tea time, after 52 overs, India’s score was 185 for 3.
