IND vs ENG 4th Test, KL Rahul Out of Ranchi Test Due to Injury: A lingering quadriceps injury, initially sustained in Hyderabad, has forced KL Rahul out of India’s fourth Test match in Ranchi. The BCCI’s official statement confirms the seasoned batsman’s unavailability. Whispers of Rahul’s potential return for the third Test were squelched, as the BCCI indicated he remained shy of full match fitness during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. The fifth Test in Dharamsala now hangs in the balance for the 31-year-old.

Rahul’s absence paves the way for fellow Karnataka batsman Devdutt Padikkal to cement his place in the lineup ahead of the Ranchi Test, commencing February 23rd.

“KL Rahul will not participate in the 4th Test. His availability for the Dharamsala Test remains contingent upon his recovery,” the BCCI statement declared.

Bumrah Granted Respite, Mukesh Kumar Returns

In a move prioritizing workload management, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah earns a well-deserved break. Bumrah’s consistent excellence throughout the first three Tests – 17 wickets at an astounding average of 13.65 – makes him a formidable force. With only England spinner Tom Hartley trailing Bumrah in the wicket-taking charts, the Indian pacer’s dominance is undeniable.

Mukesh Kumar rejoins the India squad, fresh off a career-defining 10 for 50 performance for Bengal against Bihar. He slots in alongside fellow Bengal pacer Akash Deep.
