IND vs WI 2022: India’s First ODI Playing XI (Predicted): The limited-overs tour against the West Indies will take Team India to the Caribbean. In order to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November, the Men in Blue will play three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.
India is currently engaged in a three-match One-Day International series against England in their own backyard. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with the final match scheduled for Sunday (July 17) at Old Trafford in Manchester.
West Indies, on the other hand, defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the T20I series but were thrashed 3-0 at home by the Tigers.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named a second-string squad for the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Rishabh Pant have all been rested for the Caribbean tour’s ODI leg.
Shikhar Dhawan, India’s opening batter, will lead a 16-man squad against the West Indies in three one-day internationals. Only for ODIs will all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja replace Dhawan.
The first of three 50-over matches will take place on July 22 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

Shikhar Dhawan
This will be Dhawan’s second assignment as Indian team captain, following his leadership of the side during the ODI and T20I tour of Sri Lanka last year.
In the first two games against England, Dhawan batted alongside Rohit Sharma. At The Oval, the duo formed their sixth 100-plus partnership. In the England One-Day Internationals, he scored 31 not out and 9 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
The Maharashtra batsman has appeared in nine T20 Internationals for India but has yet to play a 50-over match. Ruturaj was the leading run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 season, scoring 603 runs in five matches at an average of 150.75 and smashing four centuries.
Ishan Kishan
As the first-choice wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan is likely to take the field ahead of Sanjit Samson. During the Sri Lanka tour, the Jharkhand player made his debut in the format. He has only appeared in three games so far, the most recent being the first ODI against the West Indies in February. Kishan made his debut with a 59-ball 59 and has been in and out of India’s T20I squad.
Deepak Hooda
During India’s tour of the United Kingdom, the Rajasthan batter has been a revelation. Hooda hit 33 in 17 balls (three fours and two sixes) at a strike rate of 194.12 in the first T20I in Southampton, following a century against Ireland. After senior batter Virat Kohli returned to the team, he was benched for the remaining games. Hooda made his ODI debut against the West Indies in February of this year, appearing in two games.

Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav has been in fantastic form with the bat during the current England tour. In the final match in Nottingham, he hit his first T20I century. He didn’t bat at The Oval and made 27 off 29 balls before chopping off Topley’s bowling. The Mumbai batsman has played nine One-Day Internationals and scored 294 runs at an average of 49. In this series, he will be crucial for India.

Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas played 27 One-Day Internationals for India, scoring 947 runs at 41.17 with nine fifties and one century against New Zealand. Iyer played in the first One-Day International against England at The Oval but did not bat. After Virat Kohli returned to the team fully fit, he was benched in the second game at Lord’s.

Ravindra Jadeja
In the three One-Day Internationals, Jadeja will serve as India’s vice-captain, sharing responsibility in both departments. He has played 29 of his 170 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies, second only to 36 against Australia. Jadeja has scored 265 runs at 18.93 and taken 41 wickets at 4.88 against the West Indies.

Shardul Thakur
Thakur has appeared in 19 One-Day Internationals for India since making his debut against Sri Lanka in 2017. He is a member of India’s One-Day International squad, but he did not play in either of the first two games. Shardul demonstrated his batting ability in the South Africa ODI series early in January, scoring 50 and 40. With the best figures of 4/52, the 30-year-old has 25 wickets in 19 games.
Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan has appeared in nine T20Is for India since his debut against the West Indies in February of this year. In those games, he took eight wickets, with 4/18 against South Africa in the fourth T20I being his best performance so far. The Madhya Pradesh pacer has yet to play an ODI for India, and this series should be his chance. In 22 List A games, he has 17 scalps.
Yuzvendra Chahal
If Bumrah was the wrecker-in-chief in the first game, Chahal was doing the same thing at Lord’s. The leg-spinner enlisted the help of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes to put England in danger of another low score. Chahal has 108 wickets at an average of 26.95 and an economy rate of 5.17 in 63 ODIS. His 13 dismissals came against the West Indies, and his best figures were 4/49.
